Substitute Teacher

Real Life Christian Academy is seeking substitute teachers for the 2016-17 school year for both the upper and lower school programs. Applicants must have a high school degree, a clear Level II background check, and a strong Christian testimony.

In addition, RLCA requires a growing Christian walk, a genuine love for students, and a positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude. Substitute teachers must maintain a lifestyle consistent with the mission of the church and academy as they are acting as Christian role models for students.

This is an hourly position reporting to the division directors. Primary responsibilities include implementing the teachers' lesson plans and other duties associated with the teaching role. Interviews of candidates will be held on an ongoing basis.

Director of Multi-Site Education

Director of Multi-Site Education

Real Life Christian Academy is opening preschool and homeschool extensions on three satellite campuses: East Orlando, Mount Dora, and Kaley Avenue. Reporting directly to the Real Life Christian Academy Head of School, the Director of Multi-Site Education is responsible for oversight in establishing and developing all aspects of preschool and homeschool operations at each site above and offering support to the Clermont campuses as needed. This support includes oversight and leadership in sharing best practices regarding: marketing and advertisement, compliance, staff recruitment, facilities usage, student enrollment processes, communication, curriculum development, classroom management, staff development, and budgeting across all sites.

Essential Job Functions

The Director of Multi-Site Education must:

  1. Lead multi-site teams in the establishment and operation of premier Christian preschools and homeschool extensions, including day-to-day operation and routine special events.
  2. Support the on-site personnel in developing and implementing marketing/advertisement plans that create interest in the preschools and homeschools fuelling strong enrollment.
  3. Monitor and report on key health metrics.
  4. Assist on-site personnel in identifying and maximizing programs’ strengths and identifying and addressing areas of opportunity.
  5. Support the on-site personnel in recruiting and training teachers and other personnel as needed to staff preschool and homeschool.
  6. Assure preschool and homeschool classroom management practices are safe, secure, and orderly at all times.
  7. Assure all matters of compliance.
  8. Oversee all aspects of safety including practices, policies, and facilities.
  9. Identify and share proven best practices across sites.
  10. Establish and maintain regular communication with all stakeholders.
  11. Promote a culture that aligns with RLCA core values.
  12. Assist and support site personnel in resolving issues as they arise.
  13. Serve as a resource for site personnel.
  14. Assist in the development of an annual budget for the preschool ensuring needs are met and profitability targets are realized.
  15. Support the Real Life mission and school leadership.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Minimum Education and Experience

Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years experience as a leader in early childhood and/or homeschool education.

Master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or a related field in education is required.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a solid work ethic, possessing a passion for teaching children, and have a demonstrated record in educational leadership.

Must possess VPK Director Credential.

Other requirements may include a teaching certificate and a CPR certification. A working knowledge of creative programming related to children’s classes and special events is a plus.

School Nurse/Student Receptionist

School Nurse/Student Receptionist

This full time 11-month position reports to the Director of Student Services and will serve a dual role as school nurse and provide oversight over the student reception desk.

Nurse:

  • Serves as the health care expert in the school to meet student health needs with an understanding of normal growth and development in children and youth as well as students with special needs.
  • Develops plans for student care based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, interventions, and identification of outcomes and evaluation of care.
  • Provides leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment.
  • Provides health-related education to students and staff in individual and group settings and provides consultation to other school professionals, including food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors.
  • Responsibilities in the provision of a safe and healthy school environment include the school nurse’s monitoring of immunizations, managing communicable diseases, assessing the school environment for safety to prevent injury and spearheading infection control measures.
  • Provides quality health care and intervene with actual and potential health problems.
  • Monitors compliance of school health program with federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies.
  • Maintains security of school health supplies.
  • Serves as a resource person on health issues.
  • Provides staff development on health-related topics for school staff and volunteers.
  • Screens and conducts health appraisals for students and staff.
  • Provides follow-up evaluations on students as required.
  • Corresponds with parents on health needs of children.

Student Reception Desk Operations

  • Monitors student reception desk and responds to inquiries.
  • Monitors and records student attendance.
  • Corresponds with parents as needed.
  • Serves as a central point of information pertaining to the school calendar.
  • Helps support the main reception desk.
  • Supports the leadership of the school.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Etc.

  • LPN required, RN preferred.

Advancement Officer

Advancement Officer

The position of Advancement Officer is 12 months, full-time, and reports to the Head of School.

Essential Job Function

The Advancement Officer must:

    • Devise and manage a program designed to attract the maximum gift support possible to the institution. The range of oversight may include annual fund solicitation; planned giving programs; corporate and foundation proposals; and planning for major capital gifts.
    • Help develop and coordinate all aspects of the major gifts campaign.
    • Keep the head of school and informed on a weekly basis of the fund-raising activities of this office.
    • Develop a plan to increase alumni and parental support of, and involvement in, the institution.
    • Create a coordinated electronic and print publications, which will most effectively communicate with our various constituencies.
    • Develop a complete program of research into and an action plan of solicitation of the school's key prospects.
    • Oversee processing of all gift income for the purpose of providing receipts, recognition, and the maintaining of giving records of donors to the school.
    • Serve as the inspirational leader for giving on campus.
    • Plan and execute programs that enhance the public perception of Real Life Christian Academy.
    • Cultivate a healthy vibrant relationship between alumni and the academy.
    • Represent the academy at various events.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the head of school.
    • Support the school and its leadership.

Part-Time Admissions Officer

Part-Time Admissions Officer

The Part-Time Admissions Officer is a 12-month position and reports to the Director of Admissions.

Essential Job Function

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the process of admissions for new students to the school.
  • Presenting the school to prospective students and parents, which may include systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; conducting tours; interviews with candidates and their parents; arrangements for admissions testing; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
  • Overseeing the admission office, creation of the admissions budget, and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications.
  • Evaluating continually and redesigning (where appropriate) all aspects of the admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants.
  • Managing the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year.
  • Overseeing as needed the network of parents, former parents and alumni to assist in the admissions program.
  • Keeping relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program.
  • Representing the school at various gatherings and conferences.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Director of admissions.

Director of Fine and Performing Arts

Director of Fine and Performing Arts

Reporting to the head of school, the director of fine and performing arts will oversee all aspects of fine and performing arts at Real Life Christian Academy including program development, quality control, and professional development. This is a 10-month full time position that includes both a manageable teaching load as well as administrative responsibility.

Essential Job Functions

The director of fine and performing arts must:

  • Advise administration regarding strategic and tactical aspects of the arts on campus.
  • Assess and evaluate the state of the academy’s arts program.
  • Provide detailed, timely feedback for arts faculty and administration.
  • Oversee the all strategic aspects of the arts programs Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12.
  • Ensure that all fine and performing arts events reflect the high standards of Real Life Christian Academy.
  • Assist division directors in matters of scheduling, course development, faculty placement and evaluation.
  • Connect well with parents, colleagues, students, and those outside the RLCA community.
  • Actively and creatively promote RLCA arts programs with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Documents student success in the arts using a variety of media.
  • Develop ancillary support aspects for the arts including honor societies, external discipline-specific memberships, and competitions.
  • Cultivate discipline-specific excellence throughout the arts at RLCA.
  • Support teachers at all levels in all arts’ disciplines by visiting their classrooms, meeting with them one-on-one, and attending their events.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the arts staff to ensure alignment to core values.
  • Actively promote a healthy, vibrant culture of learning in and around the arts.
  • Support the leadership of the school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
