Instructor Email My husband Steve and I make our home in Mount Dora, Florida. We are active in our church, First Baptist Church of Mount Dora, and enjoy travel, golf and scuba diving.
It was thru participation Youth for Christ and performing at church that I came to realize God had given me a talent to be developed and used to serve Him and praise Him. In high school I was a Youth for Christ teen talent winner in the area of woodwind performance. This led to scholarship offers from a number of Christian colleges. I attended Liberty University and had a full scholarship, room, board, tuition, books and spending money thru college. There I got to travel with Jerry Falwell representing my college and sharing the gospel thru music. After graduating, Summa Cum Laude, I began teaching in 1978 at Lynchburg Christian Academy. The first seven years of teaching I taught both band and choir. In 1985, I moved to Memphis, TN to teach band at Southern Baptist Educational Center and in 1992 with the Shelby County School system in Memphis, TN. My bands consistently received top honors at local, state and national marching, concert band and jazz events.
In 1999, I was offered a graduate assistantship at the University Of Memphis, where I earned a Master’s Degree in music performance. Before moving to Florida in 2002, I taught at Rhodes College as adjunct professor of saxophone.
Since moving to Florida, my schedule is busy with performing and teaching. I teach here at RLCA on Wednesday and private music students at my home in Mount Dora. I am also a member of the local musician’s union and have performed with Space Coast Pops Orchestra, Seaside Music Theater, Florida Lakes Symphony, The Villages Philharmonic Orchestra, Lake Sumter Chamber Orchestra, Sing Live, USA, and the Disney Candlelight Processional Orchestra. I also work with Disney Magic Music Days hosting guest band, choir and dance groups in their performance at the Walt Disney parks
