RLCA band helps students identify and develop their God-given talents. Band is a great way to increase higher level cognitive abilities, leadership skills, teamwork -- and it is just a lot of fun that builds lifelong friendships and wonderful school memories. Each band student takes a private lesson at school each week and participates in group instruction.
Beginner Band
Students may begin band instruction in the fifth grade with no previous musical training. First year students are part of the Beginner Band. Here they focus on learning to read music and develop basic instrumental technique on a woodwind or brass instrument. These student perform at the Christmas concert and spring program with opportunity for both solo and ensemble performance.
Advanced Band
As students progress on their instruments they may join the Advanced Band. Here they will increase both music knowledge and instrumental technique. In addition to the Christmas and spring concerts, advanced students also perform at community venues such as nursing homes.
