Lower School (K-5)
Our lower school program builds a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and understanding based on a Christian worldview. With kind and capable teachers who foster the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth of our students, a biblical worldview is woven throughout the curriculum and every subject is taught from a Christian perspective.
Kindergarten – 5th grade students experience academic opportunities that develop the whole student. Teachers provide daily instruction in phonics, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics, science, social studies, and Bible and use classroom technology to enhance their instruction. Individual and group projects encourage problem solving, critical thinking and a love of learning. Students also participate weekly in music, art, Spanish, physical education, and technology classes. After-school athletics, worship team and music activities promote teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.
Annual standardized testing indicates that RLCA students are performing well compared to their peers nationally. Teachers use data from this testing and various other assessment sources to guide their instruction and improve student learning.
Our students are part of an academic community with a deep sense of school spirit. School-wide chapels, pep rallies, spirit days, and other activities create an environment in which children feel a strong sense of belonging. Students benefit from the fully developed culture of RLCA and the combined expertise of the Pre-K – 12th grade faculty.
